How do I create a SmartLink?
To get started with creating SmartLinks, follow the steps below. Please note that not all options are available for all pricing tiers. Pricing information can be found here.
You can edit selected settings for existing SmartLinks at any time. First, navigate to the link-specific analytics page by clicking on the SmartLink's name on the main SmartLinks page. Then, click the blue "Edit" button.
1. Add the Trackable prefix to your show's RSS feed
Sign up for Chartable and starting tracking your podcast. Visit the Integrations > Trackable page in your Chartable dashboard for instructions on setting up the Trackable prefix in your show's RSS feed.
2. Create a New SmartLink
Visit the SmartLinks page in your Chartable dashboard, then click the New Link button to create a SmartLink.
Type in the name of the podcast you'd like to promote and select it.
3. Setup the Basics
On the Basic Info page, you can setup the SmartLink to direct listeners to the main page for the podcast, or to a specific episode. Give the SmartLink a name that makes sense to your team, it is internally facing. You can also enter a custom vanity slug, or leave the Custom Short Link field blank to have Chartable create a random string.
If your team dashboard is on a Pro or Enterprise plan and you're creating an episode-specific link, you'll have the option to automate SmartLinks for future episode. Read more here.
4. Customize the Landing Page
Chartable offers a few options for each SmartLink. You can drive those who click on the SmartLink to a Chartable landing page for your show (see example here), or you can redirect them to a custom URL (like your podcast's website). If you want to use a Chartable landing page, follow the instructions below. If you want to use your own URL, skip to the next step.
On the Deeplinks page, review, edit, add, or remove links to podcast players as necessary. The Deeplinks for each show that auto-populate when creating new SmartLinks can be managed by navigating to the SmartLinks Overview > Settings > Manage Deeplinks.
Next, the Landing Page settings page. The landing page is the default destination for each SmartLink, unless you make edits to the Conditional Redirects settings tab.
All pricing plans can manage the player order on this page. On the Pro plan, you'll be able to customize the title, description, background color, and choose if there is an embedded podcast player.

5. Advanced Options
To learn more about the Social Media Image settings, refer to our article here.
On the Conditional Redirects page, you can direct listeners to a URL of your choice in the Default URL section, or direct listeners to a specific app depending on what device they're using in the Device section.
If you enter a Default URL, all users who click your SmartLink will be directed to that site unless their device matches one of the device to destination rules. In the example below, users on iOS devices will be sent directly to Apple Podcasts. The rest of the listeners who click your SmartLink will be sent to https://chartable.com/podcasts/chartable-radio.

On the Remarketing Pixels page, to add a pixel to your SmartLink, click the "Add New Remarketing Pixel" button, and enter your pixel code. You will have the option to make this pixel the default for all future SmartLinks for this show as well.
You can also manage Remarketing pixels from the SmartLinks settings page.
6. Start collecting clicks & downloads
Post your SmartLink to Twitter, Facebook, your newsletter, or use it when buying Google AdWords or social media ads. You'll see clicks tracked in real timeāand we'll start attributing any downloads within an hour.
