How do I create a SmartLink?

To get started with SmartLinks, follow these steps.

1. Add our Trackable prefix to your show's RSS feed

Sign up for a Chartable account, starting tracking your podcast, then visit the Integrations > Trackable page in your Chartable dashboard for instructions on seeing up the Trackable prefix on your show's RSS feed.

2. Create your SmartLink

Visit the SmartLinks page in your Chartable account, then click the New Link button to create a SmartLink.


Type in the name of the podcast you'd like to promote and select it.

You can setup the SmartLink to direct people to the main page for the show in the various podcast platforms (Apple, Spotify, etc), or to a specific episode.

Review the destination links, edit, add, or remove as necessary.


Next, you can customize the landing page that listeners will see when they click on the SmartLink. If you're on one of the paid plans, you'll be able to customize the title and description as well.


You can give your listeners a choice about which app they'd like to listen to your podcast in, direct them to a specific app depending on what kind of device they're using, or direct them to any URL you'd like.

For example, you can send listeners on iOS devices and Mac computers directly to Apple Podcasts and listeners on Android devices to Spotify. 

If you want to send everyone to your podcast's website, you can do that too, just enter your show's website URL in the Default URL section, and leave the Device options blank. 

If you enter a Default URL, that's where listeners will be sent unless you select a destination for their device type.

To add a Facebook pixel to your SmartLink, click the "Add New Marketing Pixel" button, and enter your Facebook pixel code. You have the option to make this pixel the default for all future SmartLinks for this show as well.

You can also manage marketing pixels from the SmartLinks settings page.

3. Start tracking clicks & downloads 

Post your SmartLink to Twitter, Facebook, your newsletter, or use it when buying Google AdWords or social media ads. You'll see clicks tracked in real timeā€”and we'll start attributing any downloads within an hour.
