How to remove your trackable prefix and update your RSS feed URL

We recently announced our plan to sunset the Chartable platform and as a result, there are certain steps that Chartable users should take by December 12, 2024, , otherwise you could risk episode playback issues or other disruptions to your podcast or data.

  • For shows that are not hosted with Megaphone, you will need to remove the trackable prefix from your RSS feed through your hosting provider.
  • If you’re a SmartFeeds user (regardless of which hosting provider you work with) , you will also need to complete the additional step of updating your podcast RSS feed URL in the podcast directories, including Spotify, with the RSS feed provided by your hosting provider instead of your SmartFeeds feed.

Chartable users need to take these actions to mitigate any such issues. This is because Chartable’s measurement solutions, specifically the trackable prefix, require Chartable to redirect listeners to the episode after capturing data; once the Chartable platform has sunset, the platform will be unable to redirect listeners to those episodes, potentially causing an issue with playback. All of the actions must be taken outside of the Chartable platform, which is why we’ve collected help center articles below across the various platforms to help you implement these changes.

Managing prefixes and RSS feed URLs via your hosting platform

Below are the available help center articles from the hosting providers that support Chartable that outline (1) how to manage/remove measurement-based RSS prefixes, if you’re not hosted with Megaphone and (2) how to manage/find your RSS feed URL, if you’re a SmartFeeds user. If you have any trouble with either action, we recommend reaching out directly to your hosting platform provider.

[For SmartFeeds Users] How to update your RSS feed URL in podcast directories

If you’re a current SmartFeeds user, you will need to update your RSS feed URL in the podcast directories. Above, we’ve linked to the various help center articles to help you find the RSS feed URL provided by your hosting provider. Once you have that, you will need to make sure your URL is updated across the major listening platforms. We’ve listed out the platforms below and the guidance provided from each on how to submit. You should also check with your hosting provider to see whether they will update for you.

If you have any questions around the recent decision to sunset Chartable, please reach out through the support portal or emailing [email protected].
